The Only Way
05:28
|
|||
Going on a long walk
For the first time in a while
Sun sneaks through the tree tops
The beauty lives in every mile
As the path continues
The poison grows around me
Toxic only for nature
Placed by humans carefree
Floating through nature's church and umbrella
Soon it will look like Notre Dame, I'll tell ya
I know I'll live to see the day
When the land turns from green to gray
When our beach becomes the bay
And cats and dogs no longer play
I wish we could just leave
Fly to the Moon, leave Earth in peace
It may be the only way
To avoid doomsday
Disappearing animals
Desperate need for rainfall
As waters levels rise
All I can do is sigh
Look up at our blue sky
And simply wave goodbye
I know I'll live to see the day
When the land turns from green to gray
When our beach becomes the bay
And cats and dogs no longer play
I wish we could just leave
Fly to the Moon, leave Earth in peace
It may be the only way
To avoid doomsday

Nightmare
04:39
|
|||
Every night, the part I dread
I lay awake within my bed
Could get back to work instead
Got to get out of my head
Wasting night counting to nine
Thinking about my next rhyme
Memory of when I said that line
Three years ago haunts my downtime
All these thoughts I need to suppress
Playing myself I need to outguess
The traitor like in a game of chess
45 minutes yet no progress
Marks across the ceiling
As familiar as the feeling
Of waking up and dealing
With sleep of no meaning
Now the nightmare is done
In my dreams, spring has begun
But time is one I can't outrun
Five hours later, I see the sun
Avoid flipping off the switch
Alaskan summer, all I wish
The dark means there's nowhere to go
But back to the cold where we move so slow
Yet I give in for my own sake
Can't know how long it will take
To break through to the pearly gates
But
Now the nightmare is done
In my dreams, spring has begun
But time is one I can't outrun
Five hours later, I see the sun
Now the nightmare is done
In my dreams, spring has begun
But time is one I can't outrun
Five hours later, I see the sun
I see the sun
I see the sun
Another round when tomorrow comes

Rose Colored Glasses
04:38
|
|||
Dreamlike days remain as a distant memory
Gaps fade away, but the highlights feel heavenly
The car rides spent surrounded by harmony
And the moments we had that felt like a comedy
My rose colored glasses, they may blur my sight
Obscuring the hours of codes
We soon discovered the paradise of moonlight
And turned walkways into main roads
We made stone castles out of beach sand
Kings on our small piece of land
Knowing our empire could crumble
And rebuilding would be like a puzzle
You'll find me in a sea of lights now
Trying to recapture those same feelings somehow

Hopefully
06:13
|
|||
The snowball begins to grow
Desire starts to slow
Anything could be a mistake
Put it off, come back when up too late
Wish the sands could fall behind
Savor minutes I find
Even when doing the things I love
It's there looming above
Like my shadow in the sun
On my tail even if I run
But hopefully, it all, will be gone by the morning
Gravity, crushing me, crept up without a warning
Escape the storm and sail the sea
Find the sounds of serenity
Only patience can carry me
Same days turn into same weeks
On and on, the cycle repeats
Sitting on the heels of my feet
Waiting to be back on the edge of my seat
Repetition leads to mastery
Ending the element of surprise
Doesn't surprise fuel our battery
Our energy that keeps us alive
Like a song with only a section
Always moving in the same direction
And hopefully, it all, will be gone by the morning
The Dead Sea, trapping me, crept up without a warning
Escape the cage, see Sydney
Explore the world while I'm free
Only that lock lies without
A key
I was told that
Morning would arrive
When clouds would bloom in the midnight sky
I was left waiting for the sign
Waiting for
But that day came when the sky was clear
Yet the lake was filled with a few extra tears
The shapes of the puzzle had simply changed
And things sped up into high gear
